About Weaverville

Step back in time to a community where neighbors chat across the streets while watering their gardens, discussing their success with this season’s heirloom tomatoes or the latest high school football score. It’s the kind of place where your local mailperson delivers that letter from your aunt Jeannie, even though Jeannie still got your address wrong. A place where folks smile at each other and nod as they pass on the street, and where life just feels…well, kind of happier, somehow.

Weaverville’s proximity to Asheville’s urban attractions, which begin at only 6 miles away, has given it the perfect blend of small town charm and big city fun. You can stand on the street corner with a child on your shoulders watching the Weaverville Christmas or Homecoming parade in the afternoon, and afterwards take the family out for an evening of elegant dining, jazz, theater, or shopping.

Historically, Weaverville has been drawing people in search of revitalization for over 250 years. With its healthful climate and inspiring beauty, the area serves as a perfect backdrop to restore and refresh oneself. Author O. Henry came to regain his health there towards the end of his life, but when New York beckoned he went back to undo all the good that the fresh air and rest had done for him.

Beautiful Lake Louise Park is the town’s prime recreational facility. Extensively renovated in 1987, it has become a favorite place to gather for people of any age. Picnic tables, shelters, outdoor grills, playground equipment, a fitness area and a .61 mile walking trail can help make any sunny afternoon a delightfully memorable one. And you can often find a crafts fair or art festival to browse.
When you come to Weaverville, you’ll find that good food, fun activities, great people, and a good rest are what we’re all about.
