If you know your way around the mountains just outside of Cashiers, North Carolina you may be familiar with Lonesome Valley. This 800 acre Box Canyon (the largest East of the Mississippi River) is the last remaining piece of nearly 35,000 acres originally purchased by E.H. Jennings in 1895. Since that time 3 generations of the Jennings family have chosen to protect this hallowed place. Over these 100+ years the tradition of sharing Lonesome Valley with family and friends has continued and now you have a chance to join them.

Lonesome Valley is a place steeped in the history of Southern Appalachian farms of generations past. It maintains the farm’s casual look and feel while offering multiple opportunities for outdoor recreation and adventure.This is where lasting friendships are established and existing relationships are reconnected, now and for generations to come. Lonesome Valley celebrates family at every level – immediate, extended and the larger community - at the table of The Canyon Kitchen, along any of our trails that meander through the Valley and on the back porches of our homes. Here we’re all family.

You are invited to hike along ten miles of trails located within the valley, paddle along the glassy waters of Long Lake, dig in 3,000 square foot vegetable and flower garden, or maybe a spring morning walk in the meadow watching our resident wild turkeys in all their glory. Lonesome Valley also enjoys a rich history associated with trout tracing back to the Jennings’ original trout farm. For the fly fisherman there are trophy trout in our trout pond and smaller elusive varieties in Logan Creek. Exceptional local, offsite fishing is also available with any of our expert fly-fishing guides.

If you’re looking for rejuvenation, situated in the quiet north end of the canyon between cascading streams is Canyon’s End; a place of rest and relaxation. Canyon's End is a simple, quiet place; restoring a sense of peace and calm within a tranquil mountain setting.

And just a few minutes outside the gates, Cashiers provides fine dining, quaint shopping and plenty of other outdoor opportunities in the midst of thousands of acres protected as national forests.
